Infrared Safety Screening

Putting the brakes on unsafe trucks

The Infrared Inspection System (IRIS) uses a Forward-Looking Infrared (FLIR) Pod mounted on top of a van to detect trucks with malfunctioning or inoperable brakes, under inflated tires, or leaky exhaust systems. The system is capable of identifying equipment problems as the truck travels past. Only if a deficiency is detected is the truck directed off the road for further inspection. If law enforcement determines the truck is unsafe, it is taken out of service. National numbers indicate about 24% of the trucks inspected are placed out of service using the traditional random selection process. Of the trucks screened by IRIS that are determined to have operating problems, about 90% are taken out of service.

Infrared Screening Technology will:

  • Improve Highway Safety
  • Increase Efficiency
  • Save Truckers Time & Money
  • Get Unsafe Vehicles off the Highway!
